Experiences of Latin American Congress of Psychology Students and future challenges for continuity in the integration of psychology students from Latin America

A great welcome and more than 2000 students, hosted one of the most important the Americas in Psychology. This is nothing more than the First Latin American Congress of Psychology Students (I COLAEPSI) held on 22, 23, 24 and August 25, 2007 in Lima - Peru, the same as that reached a record among the various student events psychology that have occurred throughout the history of psychology in Latin America.
is noteworthy that this conference is not a new initiative to make a tradition of events to mark the path in Latin America for students of psychology, but there is evidence of record in the past, those students who began to believe in integration, with the purpose of gathering student psychological community towards developing a better psychology.



Returning these efforts, and the purposes of the student organization in psychology, which in the past contributed to the small, isolated early, which in turn formed a small not very widespread historical memory, it is born COLAEPSI in order to generate resources using technology a great network that has the possibility to meet in a physical space within the continent, and so is the way to knowledge that goes beyond borders, and that the bonds of brotherhood and cultural similarity between our sister nations.

The 1st Latin American Congress of Psychology Students, was presented with the title: "Integrating a psychology applied to our reality," giving rise to bring together the various themes of Psychology, adhered to our own context. Thus, there was participation than 121 keynote and student, which covered the 14 thematic areas, the project board had arranged COLAEPSI-SOLEPSI. Within this large number of proposals set a trend manifested itself to the themes of Clinical Psychology and Health, more so, Community Social Psychology in second place and Research Methods in Psychology in third place, being the areas of Epistemology, Legal and Sport, the trend of lower participation and developed, so we dare say that there would be a greater focus on the work within the professional practice of psychologists, for students training in psychology in Latin America.
One of the great challenges which shows the completion of COLAEPSI, it becomes, the consolidation of the Latin American Society of Psychology Students (SOLEPSI) and detached from the next goal to achieve by this Congress who were and are the overall coordinators of the Project COLAEPSI-SOLEPSI, which will have to overcome the challenge of achieving the best means of channeling of ideas that work for what had already been raised and the continued development of Latin American psychology students.
We are aware that the achievements of the congress was an achievement of all students and pointing in that direction and that achieving awaiting the next congress is to exceed expectations of this.

The board SOLEPSI Project coordinator, had a central presence in the event. In this way, the community Psychology student, looks forward to this great start many of the institutions of the student organization in Latin America to begin crucial to the development, processing, promotion and extension of psychology. This may help lead to significant advances in the fields of training future researchers and professional psychologists in an effort to achieve better discipline and profession in the course of time addressing the main issues of concern to society in general and especially in the countries of the region with similar social problems.
