GUEST SPEAKER: HELENA ESPINOSA RESTREPO

DATE: 23 MARCH 2007 INTRODUCTION

knowledge field of public health today is troubled by the processes of globalization, the development of health system mediated by insurance, the privatization of the institutions and the development of collective insults have become health challenges of the people, deriving them from the technological advances of contemporary human behavior and environmental risk processes that progress has been made on the agenda for the health sector.
We are facing old problems that require new approaches and new problems arising from situations due to the uncritical application of scientific technology. In addition, emerging diseases re - emerging challenges imposed on us no way of escape, for the sake of humanity and life phenomenon. Such problems, old and new, involve the interaction of basic biomedical, psychosocial, humanistic and clinics, one of which corresponds to the mental health risks related to human cultures influenced by ways of living and living with violence, intolerance, domination, exclusion, contemporary forms of slavery, human migration and the oppression of minority groups. What about the cultural influence as it emerges from the mass deployment of the technical - industrial and domination financial empire - military crime.
